INDEPENDENT DISPATCH AGENT

Crosstown Logistics LLC is always looking for great individuals that are enthusiastic about providing excellent service. We are hiring Independent Contractors for Straight Commission Pay Only to operate in the Spot Rate Market. Agent commission rate starts at 75% Net Profit on successful booking and delivery of loads.

Must have: 

  • Previous experience in the Spot Rate Market for Dry Van, Reefer, and Flatbed, Box Truck, LTL and Partial loads.
  • Great communication, time management, and negotiating skills to be effective in this position.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Finding and Securing Viable Carriers/Owner Operators for Service:

Must be able to navigate the FMCSA website, and other sources to find and engage new clients for service, and check drivers’ safety records.

  • Finding and Managing Freight, Schedules, Routes, and Status:

Must be able to utilize various load boards that Carrier/Owner Operators use, schedule, or preplan pickups and deliveries for efficiency and relay information and any updates such as weather, and traffic as needed to all parties involved.


Must be able to acquire all relevant information relating to load to be transported, including but not limited to: 


  • Type of equipment: (Dry Van, Reefer, Flatbed) and accessories such as; swing door, rollup door, floor type, liftgate, pallet jack, air-ride, bulkhead, securement device (not limited to, tarp, tie-down, chains, dunnage blocking) etc.
  • Commodity type, weight, and quantity: Determine if Carrier/Owner Operator is authorized to transport freight, whether palletized or floor loaded, ready to load, pre-cool and running temperature (only for Reefer loads), pressure sensitive, hazardous, etc.
  • Pickup and delivery dates, time, and zip codes: for negotiating and determining the ability of driver and equipment to make delivery.
  • Special access, Instructions and Other arrangements: Determine if Carrier/Owner Operator is subject to special clearance, permits, fees and other charges associated with delivery, instructions when loading or offloading, personnel requirements at loading and offloading facilities. Determine if Special Equipment for loading and offloading is required, available and if on site as per schedule. 
  • Negotiating Rates:

Connect with freight brokers/freight agents across the continent of North America to negotiate rates offered and secure delivery. Must be able to use all relevant load information to calculate rates based on equipment type, commodity type, pickup and destination, schedule, etc.

  • Completing Broker/Carrier Setup Packets:

Acquire and complete the necessary paperwork for your client to allow future business.

  • Handle Customer Complaints and Inquiries:

Log and resolve customer complaints to ensure lasting business relationship. Notify parties involved with any conditions that may affect delivery schedule.

  • Assist with Maintaining Driver Credentials on Load Board:

Agent to gain access to driver load board subscription to update location, equipment type, accessories, and other relevant details on load board to attract possible business.

  • Assist with Monitoring Electronic Logging Device:

Driver is ultimately responsible for hours-of-service. Agent to gain access to electronic logging device to assist with monitoring service hours to perform task such as preplanning pickups.
